Geri Waddington SWE - Wood Engraver Once again the gallery welcomes back Geri Waddington, who is an elected member (and Secretary) of the Society of Wood Engravers, for the start of its 2008 exhibition. Geri trained in painting at Slade and started to engrave on wood in 1995. She has exhibited regularly across the UK. As well as her own solo shows, exhibitions have included, the Society of Wood Engravers, the National Print Exhibition, International Miniature Print Exhibition, the Eastern Open and Leicester Print Workshops exhibitions. She has won numerous prizes including the John Purcell Prize at the National Print Exhibition and the SWE prize at 'Originals 05' at the Mall Galleries London. Her Work is in public and private collections hear and in the USA, including Bristol Museum and Art Gallery, the Hunt Institute for Botanical Documentation in Pittsburgh, and Georgetown University Library in Washington DC. She has illustrated books for a number of presses, and her work has also appeared in 'Engraved Gardens' and 'Engravers' Globe'. Her original prints are engraved on end grain wood
and hand printed by the artist on an Albion iron hand press. Subjects
include natural forms, gardens and vernacular architecture, all of which
provide endless challenges in rendering tone and texture through the
tiny marks of the engraver's tools. |
