We are embarking on a new programme aimed at local schools with a view to art appreciation workshops for years 5 & 6.

The reason for the art workshops and the chosen age groups is that these children will be moving into secondary education. When they first entered school at the reception stage, art was a natural means of communication, and children at the early ages express themselves and communicate through art without a problem.

However, when they reach the ages of 9-10 they learn the “can’t do that” saying.

We had our first pilot scheme with a local school Folksworth Primary nr Peterborough on the 26th November 2008 at the Gallery with 33 children attending.
