Frank Johnston

Frank Johnston, born in Birmingham in 1945, worked for many years in the computer industry which enabled him to travel throughout the world extensively. He has painted all of his life and has been a dedicated professional painter since 1980. His work can be found in Institutions and Private collections all over the world. He has always loved Classical Realism and has spent several years studying the Masters, Bougereau and English Masters in particular. His love of colour is quite obvious and he uses this skill when interpreting the Masters adding his own style and colour. He has the versatility to approach any subject and instill his own vibrancy and style. Frank is a dedicated artist not influenced by the commercialism of the art world rather living and breathing his work, whilst living to paint.

The Norman Cross Gallery was proud to introduce to our region this much collected and talented artist in promoting his one man show in the summer of 2008.
Frank is much regarded for his seascapes and spent two years in Donegal in Ireland perfecting the art. He also has provided pictures of his battleship series taking in to account the gallery's link with the Napoleonic French and Dutch sailors held captive at the Prison Depot at Norman Cross.
